boxcast is a zero-monetary-gain, exploratory pet project. We built it to learn and to share something useful with podcast listeners — not to monetize your attention or your data.
We do not know who you are. We do not collect names, emails, phone numbers, or precise GPS locations. Your app generates a random, anonymous device ID (via PostHog) that is never linked to your real identity.
WE NEVERWe use PostHog for product analytics to understand how the app is used. While we rely on a third-party service, we collect absolutely no personally identifiable information.
A random, app-generated anonymous ID and the date you last opened the app. This helps us understand how many people use boxcast — nothing more.
Interaction events like "feature used" or "search performed". These are tied to your anonymous ID to help us identify bugs and improve the user experience.
We log your podcast library interactions — such as which podcasts you subscribe to and which episodes are played — to eventually build native, community-driven charts. This data is tied to an anonymous device ID, meaning we can analyze listenership and subscription trends without ever knowing who you actually are.
You can regenerate your anonymous ID at any time from Settings → Data & Privacy → Data Management. This acts as a "Forget Me" — your old ID becomes orphaned data.
Email us your PostHog ID and we will permanently delete all associated data.
The entire boxcast application — including this privacy page — is fully open source. You don't have to take our word for it.
